چکیده

Abstract Background Comparison between the Fine Needle Non-Aspiration Cytology (FNNAC) and Aspiration (FNAC) in acquiring ultrasound-guided fine needle cytology (FNC) samples from solid thyroid nodules to determine better technique, hence improving sample quality aiming decrease number of unnecessary thyroidectomy operations. Results Prospective study showed statistically significant increase cellular yield, preservation architecture trauma along with total FNNAC ( P value = 0.32, 0.004, 0.011, 0.21 respectively), insignificant difference background blood 0.8). Regarding convenience, was found be more convenient for both patient (syringe is not seen by reducing discomfort) operator (better handling fewer maneuvres). Conclusions FNC an approved sensitive cost-effective method evaluate nodules, technique improvement compared FNAC.

Combination of aspiration and non-aspiration fine needle biopsy for cytological diagnosis of thyroid nodules

Background: Good cytological sample is very important for the cytological diagnosis of thyroid nodules. The aim of this study was to evaluate the adequacy of prepared samples by the combination of aspiration and non- aspiration fine needle biopsy. Methods: In this descriptive – analytical study, sampling was done simultaneously for each patient in fine needle aspiration and non-aspiration biops...

Partially cystic thyroid nodules in ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration

Partially cystic thyroid nodules (PCTNs) are common on ultrasound (US). However, there are insufficient data on the prevalence of thyroid carcinoma among such nodules. The purpose of this study was thus to evaluate the prevalence and differentiation of partially cystic thyroid cancers in US-guided fine needle aspiration (FNA).A total of 1342 consecutive patients with 1360 thyroid nodules underw...

Ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration of thyroid nodules.

PURPOSE Some authors have questioned the benefit of fine-needle aspiration (FNA) of thyroid nodules ≥ 4 cm. They report that the results of the FNA are not as reliable when compared to nodules <4 cm. The aims of this study are to evaluate the accuracy and predictive values of ultrasound-guided FNA (USFNA) of thyroid nodules ≥ 4 cm and compare these findings to nodules <4 cm. METHODS A retrosp...

ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration (usfna) of thyroid nodules; does aspiration site matter?

conclusions the aspirates from the hypovascular and hypervascular sites of solid nodules are complementary and should be performed consecutively. results when only hypervascular site was used, adequate sampling was limited to 65% of the cases. when both sites were evaluated together, overall adequate sampling was 91%. adding a sample from the hypervascular site to hypovascular aspirate increase...

Ultrasound-Guided Fine Needle Aspiration (USFNA) of Thyroid Nodules; Does Aspiration Site Matter?

BACKGROUND The goal of ultrasound guided fine-needle aspiration (USFNA) is to obtain most cellular specimen that represents the nodule. However, there is substantial variability in specimen cellularity depending on the obtaining techniques. While performing USFNA, it is not clear whether the needle tip should be placed at hypovascular or hypervascular site of the nodule to obtain more cells for...
